Welcome to the New Ways for Families Coach Training Course.
This course is for FDR Practitioners and students, counsellors, psychologists, lawyers and other professionals who work with clients with have parenting conflict.
The coaching is designed to be provided in conjunction with the online New Ways for Families - Parenting without Conflict Course.
The New Ways For Families Course
New Ways for families is a post-separation parenting course delivered over twelve modules. The co-parenting course is designed to help your clients to be the best parents they can be under the circumstances they are in.
It can be helpful to any parent, but it specifically covers issues for parents going through a separation or divorce, and it will especially help them manage or avoid falling into the trap of a high conflict dynamic.
The course was originally developed by Bill Eddy, the president of the High Conflict Institute and the developer of the New Ways for Families method in America.
The course has been used by Family Court systems in the US as well as counsellors, mediators, lawyers, and families out of court.
Bill was a child and family counsellor for twelve years and then spent twenty-one years as a family lawyer before adopting mediation and developing the high conflict institute.
The team at Interact Support in Australia have reviewed the course, updated the content to be relevant to Australians and the Australian Family Law Act 1975 in collaboration with Mediation Institute who host this online learning program for Interact Support.
In providing clients with this course we want them to have the same information that professionals have and the benefit of what has been learned from other parents' mistakes and successes.
What does the New Ways for Families Course cost clients?
The cost of the course for parents is $95. https://interact.support/new-ways-for-families/ Links to an external site.

What does it cost to become a New Ways for Families Coach?
Mediation Institute hosts New Ways for Families Coach Training for professionals. It is designed to provide professionals who work with families with an understanding of how to support the Four Big Skills, educate parents on child development goals and provide context with regards to the family court and family law.
Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to work with your clients in a way that strengthens and reinforces their knowledge of the New Ways Skills and supports them to implement them in the way they interact with their co-parent.
The course includes recordings from four hours of live video training with course creator Bill Eddy and is supported by this eLearning course you are in right now.
Online New Ways Course Structure
The course is self-paced allowing the parent to move through the modules at their own pace. We normally allow them access to the course for six months.
The same modules that the clients complete are included in this course with an introduction page for coaches included at the beginning to give you context.
In order for you to become a Certified New Ways for Families Coach, you must work through the course content.
Course Journal
The Course Journal is supplied in PDF format so that the parent can enter their comments into the document or print it and handwrite in their comments.
The journal allows the parent to keep their thoughts and reflections together as they progress through the program and review the previous reflections as well as providing them with a permanent copy of your their course responses.
There are three types of questions in the course:
- Self-reflection questions - they encourage clients to think about what they have done and how you have managed in the past. They are for their own benefit and they do not have to provide these answers in the coursework
- Life Application questions - life application questions are about what they can do in the future with the information they are learning. We encourage them to record their answers in their journal and you may talk with them about some of their answers in the coach training.
- Quizzes - there are self-marking quizzes in the course that they will come across from time to time. These are completed online in the course. There is no need to enter them in their journal.
